A water-loving monkey!
These macaques are found in various habitats, but preferably near water: mangroves, marshes, swamps, banks of rivers and seas … They are very good swimmers, and if they feed mainly on fruits, they also eat other plants and small animals, including crabs!
It is a group composed of a male and 7 females who arrived in 2018 in La Barben. Their history is special: ancient laboratory animals, they were intended for euthanasia. They were saved in extremis thanks to the mobilization of their carer at the time and the Tonga Terre d’Accueil association. We then decided to welcome them, in order to offer them a peaceful life …
