Amazon parrot
This little green parrot is recognisable by the blue stripe above its beak. Each bird has a unique pattern that distinguishes it from other individuals.
As with other psittacidae (the family of parrots, macaws, budgerigars, etc.), the Amazon parrot’s vocal abilities have made it a popular pet… making it a target for animal traffickers as well as being threatened by deforestation. It is regularly found in the wild… But for how much longer?
Our Amazon parrots share an aviary with the macaws, at the entrance to the park. You might have to look carefully to spot them among the vegetation!
